Lola Beltrán was one of Mexico's most acclaimed singers from 1947 until his death in 1996.
She was internationally renowned for her interpretation of the songs “Cucurrucucú paloma” and “Paloma negra” which were sang before many world leaders. She was nicknamed Lola La Grande (Lola the Great).
She gave concerts before the president of France, the leader of Yugoslavia, Soviet minister, King of Spain, Queen Elizabeth II, American Presidents John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon, among others.
Her success helped in spreading an appreciation and recognition of Mexican culture throughout the world.
This year, local artists will performed some of the most popular songs of Lola Beltrán as a tribute to one of the most famous singers in the history of México.
